Break for Removal: Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

This airfield taxiway reconstruction project was a challenge due to the thickness of the existing pavement section. Antigo operated two 8600 Badger Breakers® to meet the contractor’s production requirements. Antigo broke for removal 88,000 square yards of 17” thick concrete on Taxiway Lima during 33 concrete breaker shifts in 3 phases during 2017. The concrete was continuously reinforced with reinforcing bars running in both directions and the concrete was over a 9” thick cement treated base and a 9” thick lime treated subgrade. This very thick pavement section was broken with one pass of the 8600s striking the concrete on 6” centers.

This project is one example of Antigo’s ability to break thick concrete pavements efficiently and effectively allowing contractors to meet aggressive schedules.
