Testimonials Rubblization Controlled-Access Highways
Mar 12, 2015
I would like to take this time to personally thank you for your years of high quality service in the transportation building industry. Antigo Construction, Inc.’s professionalism and knowledgeable staff has benefited Payne & Dolan, Inc. and the Wisconsin taxpayers immensely over the years.
Since 2007 we have been able to work collectively to rubblize and overlay approximately 150 lane miles of existing concrete pavement on the Wisconsin Interstate Highway System. These projects include the following;
- IH 94 Dane & Jefferson Counties
- IH 43 Waukesha & Walworth Counties
- USH 12 Beltline Dane County
These projects all required extensive coordination between Payne & Dolan and Antigo Construction. With these projects we were required to mill (remove) the existing asphalt pavement, rubblize the underlying concrete pavement, and install an initial asphalt pavement. This work was all completed under nighttime lane closures and open to the travelling public the following morning. We were able to accomplish this goal on a nightly basis on multiple projects without incurring a single lane rental assessment from the owner for delays in opening. This is a credit to our professional working relationship and your company’s (management & employees) attentiveness to the schedule demands and working hours.
In addition to this attentiveness to the schedule requirements, Antigo Construction had a thorough understanding of the existing conditions. Generally your firm was able to utilize two MHB Badger Breakers to accomplish the project goals. At times the existing concrete conditions required an additional pre-break of the underlying concrete pavement due to additional pavement thickness in the roadway structure. Antigo Construction understood and accomplished this by incorporating the use of an additional T8600 Badger Breaker (truck mounted guillotine breaker) in conjunction with the MHB Badger Breakers.
Antigo Construction’s knowledge, professionalism, and dedication to quality has helped Payne & Dolan become a finalist for the 2014 Sheldon G. Hayes award for the 2012-2013 IH 43 project in Waukesha County. This award, bestowed annually since 1971, recognizes the country’s highest quality asphalt pavements. Antigo Construction’s contributions to this project, and many others, cannot be understated and is greatly appreciated.
In closing, thank you for your many years of service and I look forward to a continued professional and positive relationship.
Brian R. Wallace, Project Manager, Payne & Dolan, Inc.
